Critical care and tele ICU
Tele ICU HubTele ICU (eICU)
Remote intensive care, where off site intensivists monitor and guide ICU patients via live data and video.
Tele PICU
Tele ICU for critically ill children, requiring paediatric intensivists and child specific protocols.
Tele NICU
Remote critical care for newborns in neonatal units.
Intensivist
A doctor specialised in critical/intensive care.
Hub and spoke model
One central specialist "hub" supporting many peripheral "spoke" hospitals.
Command centre
The central site where remote intensivists monitor multiple ICUs.
Remote patient monitoring (RPM)
Continuous real time capture and transmission of patient vitals to clinicians elsewhere.
Length of stay (LOS)
How long a patient remains admitted; a key outcome metric.
Health kiosks and diagnostics
Health ATM HubHealth ATM / Health kiosk
A self service station that screens multiple health parameters and connects users to a doctor.
Point of care testing (POCT)
Diagnostic testing done at or near the patient with instant results, instead of a central lab.
Telemedicine cart
A mobile, clinician operated station with video and medical devices for remote examination.
Mobile Medical Unit (MMU)
A healthcare equipped vehicle that takes care to remote communities.
Vital signs
Core measures like blood pressure, pulse, SpO₂, temperature and respiratory rate.
ECG
Electrocardiogram, a recording of the heart's electrical activity.
SpO₂
Blood oxygen saturation, measured non invasively.
BMI
Body mass index, a weight for height ratio.
Lipid profile
A blood test measuring cholesterol and triglycerides.
India's digital health and public health system
Government Kiosk HubABDM (Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission)
India's framework for interoperable digital health (formerly NDHM).
ABHA (Ayushman Bharat Health Account)
A 14 digit digital health ID for consent based health records.
eSanjeevani
India's flagship national teleconsultation service under MoHFW.
Ayushman Arogya Mandir (AAM)
Government primary health and wellness centre (formerly AB HWC), focused on comprehensive primary care and screening.
PM JAY
The health insurance component of Ayushman Bharat (cover up to ₹5 lakh/family/year).
PHC / CHC / Sub centre
Primary health centre / community health centre / sub centre, tiers of public primary care.
NHM (NRHM / NUHM)
National Health Mission, India's umbrella public health programme (rural + urban).
